Picap was an online ride-hailing service for motorcycles in Colombia that expanded its business into five other countries in late 2019. Described as the Uber of motorcycles, the company had over two million rides and nearly a million dollars in monthly revenue. It employed nearly 300 people, served more than 10,000 companies, and had operations in five countries, including the United States. In May 2020, the Colombian government shut it down, deeming the company to be an illegal operation.
As a result, Picap has launched Pibox Enterprise, an application that routes its couriers and provides last-mile shipments with full traceability. The service is currently available in Colombia and Mexico. Founded by Daniel Rodriguez and Hector Neira Duque, the company's name comes from the fact that Bogota is home to the most traffic jams in the world, which cause countless hours of lost work each year and months of lost productivity.
In Colombia, Picap also operates its own parcel-delivery platform called Pibox. It operates in countries such as Brazil, Guatemala, and Colombia and uses the same app as the main Picap. While Picap is focused on ride-hailing, the company also has a strong logistics division, and has grown eightfold since its founding in 2010. The company has partnered with Mercado Libre, Grupo Salinas, Falabella, and Amazon to launch the Pibox delivery platform.
